Wk 1 | Back to the ‘Grindstone’

Welcome back, thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my posts; it means the world to me. Lets start this off with a bible verse:

“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not service your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” -Daniel 3:17-18

Getting back to work after having R&R is a different experience for me. I’ve never had a job where I work weeks on then have a week off. It is a new experience that I am traversing. For this R&R I went back home to visit family.

First day back we are flying drivetrains and lids to these machines. Like the photo above, I am holding a tag line that is connected to the lid above. We were just about to fly this lid down so we could gain access to the drivetrain so it could fly down.

If you are from North Central Texas in spring time then you know that ‘Spring showers brings May flowers’ is an actual thing. The storms in this part of the country are wild. I wake up and start the day heading into work. The photo above is me heading into work and watching the incoming storm materialize in front of me. The photo below is just 5 minutes after taking the first one. Conditions deteriorated so quickly that slowing down and turning on the hazards was required.

After making it to the next town I filled up with diesel and got in the truck. When I got in a message was sent out to all of us to stay home….

I lack in the adaptability department but I am striving to be better. So I collected myself and made my way back to my camper. And I just realized I haven’t told you about this camper. Let me start with this; it is a work in progress and we listen and don’t judge. I have had to replace parts on the furnace, electrical system, windows, stovetop, propane service, and countless other items. It’s not really the fact that I have to fix the problems it is the fact that the problems show up at the worst timing. Like when a storm came through a knocked out the power and made the converter in this camper hit the bucket. I had to go out and purchase not just the converter but a whole new breaker panel because they didn’t make the model of converter I needed.

One night some of us were outside talking, kicking the can or whatever metaphor you use. One of my buddies called out that Starlink was going overhead. I was able to get a photo of it, and it was really cool to see in person. Especially since I use Starlink for my internet service on the camper.

Well, that is enough about this week. Don’t forget to subscribe to the email newsletter so you will be notified when I publish a new post. Again, thank you for taking the time to read this blog post.
