Wk 3 | New Adventures

Welcome back to the Turbine Traveler! I am a wind technician who travels around posting about his adventures. Thank you to each and every one of you for reading my posts. You have no idea how much this means to me.

Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Ecclesiastes 4:12

Starting off the week we were finishing up a turbine and loading everything out. After loading everything onto trucks and getting the trucks out of the wind farm, which can be harder than it sounds, we went around the job site and picked up any trash that was left over.

Once we left site we rushed home to pack our campers. In the morning we hooked up and traveled 3 hours to our next job site. Now instead of three of us at the same camp ground we now got a fourth! Which I am so happy that he has joined us, he has merged with the team very well.

Got our campers set, which mine I don’t know the problem yet. It could be just uneven ground, but I have to drop the front of my camper so it is inches above the ground to be level. This isn’t the first time this has happened it did happen in Midland, Texas. I just take the front “foot” off of the tongue and have the “leg” rest on a board. Everything is mostly level, I do have some cleaning to do after moving. If any of you have any tips for keeping items stowed away while moving the camper I am willing to listen!

We went into work to get our site orientation and sit down with the crane crew. After orientation, which is mostly just giving us an idea of what to look for while at site. Back in my O&M days I was the Safety Coordinator so I gave the orientations to passing technicians. Now being on the other site of it, I get why them are important. They teach you about the wildlife on site, the people, nearby help, and more. When I was in O&M I was based in Nebraska, not much happens in Nebraska. Now that I travel I get to see all these different types of animals, people and places. I’ve never seen a Rattlesnake in my life until I started traveling.

I am sorry I don’t have many photos for this week. I didn’t capture anything extra ordinary.

I want to again thank you for reading my posts. It does mean the world to me. There is more to come!!!

Stay Safe!
